Executive powers should not completely be abolished - Perera

The executive powers of the President should not completely be abolished, State Minister Dilan Perera asserts.
The observation was made while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (24).
“The President should keep some executive powers without abolishing them,” Perera added.
Perera also pointed out there will be no legality for either former Presidents Mahinda Rajapaksa or Chandrika Kumaratunga of establishing a new government under their authority according to the Constitution.
“Thus, steps should be taken to strengthen the middle level political figures of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party,” he stressed.
He also went on to say a new government would be established after forming a coalition with those who attended the Kirulapone rally.
