The Government has exceeded the approved borrowing limits, JVP Propaganda Secretary, Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath says.

The observation was made during a press conference held in Battaramulla this afternoon (26).

Herath also went on to say this has also been mentioned in the government audit report.

“The Government has exceeded the approved borrowing limit by 100 per cent. The allocated amount was Rs.1780000 million. But it had obtained Rs.3549805 million,” he added.

However, Prime Minister Ranil Wickeremesinghe assured the Parliament this week that his Government has not exceeded the approved borrowing limits and stood within the agreements with international agencies even though the Auditor General’s report say otherwise.
