The Seventh Derana Lux Film Awards 2019 was held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre in Colombo last night with a host of awards being presented to artists and creators alike at the glittering ceremony, which was graced by Sri Lanka’s biggest celebrities and stars.

  • Best Film: “According to Matthew” - Sri Lankan English film directed by the veteran filmmaker Chandran Rutnam
  • Best Actor: Darshan Dharmaraj - “Porisadaya” 
  • Best Actress: Anoma Janadari - “Davena Vihagun” (Burning Birds)
  • Best Screenplay: Jayantha Chandrasiri - “Gara Sarapa”
  • Best Film Director: Sanjeewa Pushpakumara - “Davena Vihagun” (Burning Birds)
  • Highest Grossing Film of the Year 2018: “Bimba Devi Alias Yashodhara” by Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne
  • Best Supporting Actress: Samanali Fonseka
  • Best Supporting Actor: Mahendra Perera
  • Most Popular Actor: Jackson Anthony
  • Most Popular Actress: Udari Warnakulasuriya
  • Best Comedian: Bandu Samarasinghe
  • Best Villain: Teddy Vidyalankara
  • Best Upcoming Actress: Nayanathara Wickramarachchi
  • Lux Glamorous Star: Shalani Tharaka
  • Special Jury Awards for Debut Performances: Dewaka Kowage of “Garasarpa” and Ludewyke of “According to Mathew”
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Veteran Actor Amarasiri Kalansuriya
