The delayed election of the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha was held today (11) to elect 28 members for the local council. Over 75% of the 53,384 registered voters turned out to exercise their franchise between 7.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. today. The election officers and monitoring groups stated that the election has been largely peaceful thus far.
