Principal arrested for sexual abuse of four students

A school principal has been arrested by the Ella police today (30) for allegedly sexually abusing four girls aged 16.
 
The four victims are Grade 10 and 11 students at Yahalawela Vidyalaya in Elle Division while the suspect is the 52-year-old principal of the school.
 
The girls have been abused separately at the teachers’ restroom and shrine room and they had informed the incident to their parents and teachers, Ada Derana reporter said. Later the students accompanied by their parents had lodged a complaint with Ella Police.

During the investigations it was revealed that the suspect had previously been accused of sexually abusing one of his nieces.
 
The police investigations are being carried out under the instruction of Bandarawela SP Sudath Masinghe, ASP Jayantha Rathnayaka and supervision of Ella OIC L. D. N Karunarathne.
