Court allows detention of Indian fishermen arrested with heroin

The Mannar Magistrate’s Court today granted approval for the detention and interrogation of the three Indian fishermen arrested with 2 kilograms of heroin in the sea area off Arippu in Silawathura, until November 02. 

The suspects were arrested by Sri Lanka Navy personnel at around 5.00am yesterday (27) while they have been handed over to the Navy camp in Mullikulama for onward action.

The Indian fishermen were smuggling the 2 kg and 50g of heroin into Sri Lanka via sea route when they were apprehended.
