The Principal of Badi-ud-din Mahmud Girls’ College, Kandy has been suspended for distributing uniform material instead of vouchers to students.
The suspension has been imposed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Education due to the principal allegedly purchasing school uniform material from another place and distributing them to students instead of handing them the vouchers issued by the ministry.
The Education Ministry says that the 2017 circular clearly states that it is the responsibility of all school principals to hand over uniform vouchers to students and that the principal can be charged with misuse of state property.
