Five fishermen from Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu, who went missing from November 28, were found off Sri Lankan coast and taken to Kangesantghurai by the island nation navy today.

The fishermen hailing from Vellakoil had been handed over to the Sri Lankan fisheries officials, according to the information received by Joint Director of Fisheries Department Amal Xavier.

The fishermen told the Lankan officials that they had strayed into Sri Lankan territorial waters. It was for the fisheries department to decide whether to arrest them or not, Xavier said.
