Navy arrests five local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

The Navy has arrested 5 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized nets in Silawathurai Seas today. 

During the arrest, a dingy and a monofilament net were also taken into naval custody, the Navy said in a statement.

The arrested persons and items were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector, Mannar for further investigations.
