UPFA MP Vidura Wickremanayake says that he reversed his decision to resign from his parliamentary seat after taking into consideration the overwhelming requests from supporters.

Wickremanayake, who is backing the Joint Opposition, had recently stated that he would take an important political decision very soon and had hinted at possibly giving up his MP seat.

He had convened a Horana SLFP electoral board meeting today (21) in order to reach a decision on the matter.

At the meeting, the MP announced his intention to resign from his parliamentary seat as he was disappointed by the prevailing political system in the country.

When he inquired from the supporters assembled there regarding their opinion on the subject, they strongly opposed the decision.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Wickremenayake said that he changed his decision to respect the opinion of the supporters.

He further stated that a powerful force will be created in the future to change the present political system.
