Wimal’s case: man remanded for contempt of court

A man who is said to be a supporter of MP Wimal Weerawansa who aggressively shouted before the Fort Magistrate has been remanded over contempt of court charges, Ada Derana reporter said.
According to reporter, the man has shouted demanding legal action against Lasantha Alagiyawanna, former Deputy Minister of Weerawansa’s Ministry who is the Deputy Minister of Megapolis and Western Development in the present government.
Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has remanded the suspect until 07 February.
The incident occurred in open court when MP Weerawansa and former General Manager of the State Engineering Corporation Samantha Lokuhennadi were produced before the Magistrate on Tuesday morning.
They have been arrested and remanded over the allegation of misusing state vehicles.
