Former Crimes OIC granted bail by HC in Thajudeen case

The Colombo High Court on Thursday granted bail to former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Perera who was arrested and remanded on the charge of withholding evidence related to the murder of former rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.
The decision was made when a revision application filed on behalf of the suspect came up before Judge Manilal Waidyatilleke. The suspect was ordered to be released on a cash bail of Rs.100,000 and three personal bails of Rs.1 million each.
According to bail terms, the suspect was also ordered to surrender his passport, Ada Derana reporter said.
The former Crime OIC of the Narahenpita police was arrested by the Criminal Investigation (CID) on 20 April, 2016.
Thajudeen was found dead on 17 May, 2012 inside his car which appeared to have crashed into a wall in Kirulapone.
