President to decide on new CJ today

A final decision would be made about the next person to be elected for the Chief Justice post, it was reported.


President Maithripala Sirisena will convey his decision to the Constitutional Council in this regard on Monday.


Chief Justice K. Sripavan will retire from service on February 28 upon reaching the retirement age.


Update: Constitutional Council has recommended  Supreme Court judge Priyasath Dep for post of Chief Justice, sources said.
