Pillayan released on bail...

Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) leader and Batticaloa District MP Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias “Pillayan” greeted by supporters after he was granted bail by the Batticaloa High Courton Tuesday (24), in the case filed over the murder of former TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham.

Four other defendants in the case who were in remand custody were also granted bail by the court. They were ordered released on two personal bonds of Rs 100,000 each while the case was postponed until December 08. 

Pillayan had been in remand custody since his arrest on October 11, 2015 when he arrived at the CID to give a statement in connection with the assassination of the late Tamil politician Joseph Pararajasingham, who was shot dead on Christmas Eve in 2005.
