Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne says that a small group within the government is against the new constitutional amendment and referendum.

However, the forces which are building the country are for the referendum and constitutional amendment.

The Minister of Health said that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), which had called for a federal solution, are presently ready to accept power devolution under a unitary state and that even they have expressed agreement to the amendment and referendum.

He was speaking during a seminar held to brief the public regarding the constitution-making process.
