MFA confirms deaths of Sri Lankan pilgrims

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the deaths of three Sri Lankans who died while they were on a pilgrimage to Dambadiva.


The bodies of three pilgrims were brought to the Bandaranaike International Airport.


The deceased are from the same group of pilgrims and they had left the country on 13 March, it was reported.


The Ministry, in a statement said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that three Sri Lankans had passed away while on pilgrimage in India. With the assistance of the Ministry, their remains have been transported back to Sri Lanka last week. The Ministry is unable to share any further information in this regard with media, respecting the privacy of the families concerned.”
