Govt. to amend PC Election Act - Minister

A proposal to amend the Provincial Councils Election Act in order to hold next local government election with the new electoral system would be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, a top government Minister says.

Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera said that the President has already given directions to the Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils in this regard.

He also pointed out therefore steps will be taken to hold the election without further delay. Amaraweera made these remarks while speaking at an event held in Hambantota.
