Sports Minister suspends SLBA, calls for fresh election

A gazette notification has been issued by the Minister of Sports suspending registration of Sri Lanka Badminton Association and calling for a fresh election.
Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekara has issued an extraordinary gazette suspending the registration of Sri Lanka Badminton Association, the National Association for Badminton and further order that the election be convened and held to elect new office bearers to the SLBA for 2017.
As an interim arrangement, the Director General of the Department of Sports Development Mr. Saman Priyantha Bandara has been appointed as its competent authority with effect from April 19, 2017 to continue its functions.
