Ranil embarks on tour of India

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today embarked on his tour of India.
Wickremesinghe boarded a New Delhi-bound flight at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake at 2.10 pm today.
He was accompanied on this visit by Ministers Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Malik Samarawickrama and other officials.
Wickremesinghe will engage in bilateral discussions, with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the Minister of Health and the President of the Indian national Congress.
Wickremesinghe arrives on Tuesday on a four-day working visit and will meet Modi for talks on Wednesday, according to a schedule from the Indian foreign ministry.
Wickremesinghe’s own visit comes ahead of a visit by Modi to Sri Lanka to participate in the celebrations marking the UN ‘Vesak Day’.
The commemorations in Colombo will include an International Buddhist Conference in which over 400 delegates from more than 100 countries will participate.
