Deputy Minister of Transport Rohana Kumara Dissanayake says that he has decided to resign from his position as the SLFP Organiser for Matale electorate.
The MP made the announcement while speaking to reporters in the presence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who attended the funeral of Rohana Dissanayake’s mother.
He stated that even former Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon was yesterday removed from the post of SLFP Organiser for Dambulla Electorate and that he will not wait till he too is removed by the party and therefore decided to resign as a tribute to his late mother.
UPFA MPs Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, Lohan Ratwatte and PC member Anura Widanagamage have been removed from their respective positions as SLFP electoral organisers.
Tennakoon’s son Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon yesterday resigned from his portfolio as Central Province Minister of Industries due to the removal of his father from the post of SLFP Dambulla Organiser.
