Hemmathagama man arrested for allegedly killing parents

A 38-year-old son was arrested after he allegedly murdered his parents at his home in Thalgaspitiya, Hemmathagama, police said.


The suspect who is said to be an alcoholic was arrested earlier today (26), police added.


Remains of the deceased parents, ages 76 and 72, are kept at the Hemmathagama Base hospital pending post-mortem, according to police.


The crime was witnessed by the elder brother of the suspect who had alerted the police. The 38-year-old son will be produced before the Mawanella Magistrate today.
