Kalutara prison bus shooting - another suspect arrested

Another suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting of two prison buses in Ethanamadala, Kalutara.
Police Headquarters stated that the suspect had been arrested at Kinigama, Malwathuhiripitiya, based on information uncovered through investigations conducted by the Peliyagoda Crime Division.
The 38-year-old suspect is said to be a resident of Bulathpitiya, Malwathuhiripitiya.
Initial investigations revealed that the arrestee had been involved in numerous other criminal activities too.
According to the Police, the suspect was involved in a murder in 2001, robbery of a van in 2013, and the attempted shooting of ‘Samayang’ at the Kaduwela Magistrate Court in 2015.
According to investigations, the suspect had joined the Army in 1998 and had been dismissed from his post in 2001.
The prison bus shooting that took place in Ethanamadulla, Kalutara resulted in the death of 07 individuals, including that of ‘Samayang’, who was believed to be a criminal gang leader.
