Traffic plan for Labor Day released

A special traffic plan has been drawn up, in preparation for the International Labor day, which will be held on the 1 May.
The traffic plan will be in effect from the 30 of this month (April).
Bus numbers 138,154, 176 and 103 will be provided with alternative routes.
All vehicles coming into Colombo via the Colombo – Kandy road, will have to follow the route which will through the Prison roundabout, Ingurukade Junction, Sirimavo Banadaranayake roundabout, Amarawidiya signal light junction and then through the Amarawidiya central road towards Pettah.
Traffic on the roads leading from Pettah and Galle Road towards Dehiwala, and Sri Jayawardenapura road will follow as usual.
The Police department further added that parking will be banned in many public spaces around Colombo.
Certain roads in Maligawtha, Baseline Road, Sarnankara road and roads in slave island will be closed to all vehicles.
Meawhile, the Ganoruwa road leading towards the Gatambe stadium and the Kandy-Peradeniya Sirimavo Bandaranayake road leading towards the Gatambe Stadium are the roads which can be used to reach the stadium on the day. Special arrangements will be made to park private and public vehicles.
Traffic flowing between Colombo and Kandy will have use alternative routes.
Around 2600 police officers will be present to ensure public safety, while another 1500 will be assigned the job of traffic control on the day.
