Youth hacked to death in Thalawathugoda identified

Police said that the individual hacked and murdered in front of a house on Madiwela Road in Thalawathugoda this morning, has been identified. 

Ishara Sampath, 25, a resident of Oruwala in Athurugiriya, was found with critical injuries inflicted using a sharp object at around 5.30am today (28), following information received by the police emergency hotline. 

He was rushed to the Colombo National Hospital by a team of Thalangama Police officers, however the victim succumbed to injuries before being admitted to the hospital. 

The body has been placed at the hospital’s mortuary while the postmortem examination and the magistrate’s inquiry are to be carried out later today.

No suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident so far while a special team of officers from Thalangama Police have been assigned to conduct investigations to apprehend them.
