The Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development has issued a special contact number to improve and speed up the process of fuel supply to flood-hit areas.
The Ministry stated that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) have requested the public to use the special contact number to report any shortage in fuel or issue regarding the distribution of fuel in flood-ridden regions.
As a result of the ongoing crisis, 11 filling stations in the Southern province, 7 in the Western province, and 5 in the Sabaragamuwa province were rendered out of order by the morning today (30).
However, the Ministry confirmed that under the guidance and advice of the Minister of Petroleum Resource Development, Arjuna Ranatunga, a joint operation has already been implemented by the CPC and the CPSTL to restore the function of said fuel stations.
The disaster management unit under the Ministry assured that the inactive filling stations would be made operational by today (30) afternoon.
The unit stated this when they convened in the morning today (30) for a meeting, which was presided by Minister Arjuna Ranatunga.
