The Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) in Dehiwala has been closed for over four-and-a-half months up-to-date for no legitimate reason, students say.

President of the Students’ Union, Shehan Atukorale stated that the Institute had been closed down by the administration indefinitely, following a student-run protest.

The students had engaged in the protest seeking the fulfillment of several requests, including the request to increase the ‘Mahapola’ scholarship granted to university students to Rs. 5000.
