No unnecessary arrests will be made – Defence Secretary

The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne says that not a single unnecessary arrest will be made in the future.
He stated that the relevant criminal investigations are being carried out following the arrest of former Navy Spokesman Commodore D.K.P. Dasanayake. “No unnecessary arrests will be carried out. I can assure that.”
The newly appointed Defence Secretary made these comments while responding to questions from journalists after he visited the Maha Nayaka Theros of the Ramanna Nikaya, Malwathu Chapter and Asgiri Chapter.
When asked about concerns that the bill on enforced disappearances will be harmful to the war heroes, he assured that the country’s war heroes will be able to live without any doubts or fears.
He guaranteed that national security is being safeguarded better than never before and that he took charge with the determination to not allow any harm come to the respect and dignity of all security service personnel.
