21-year-old beaten to death in Weeraketiya

Weeraketiya Police have commenced investigations into the murder of a youth which occurred at approximately 1.00 am today (17).

According to Police reports, preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim had been beaten to death along the Tangalle Road in Weeraketiya, upon returning home from a musical show which he had attended the previous night (16).

The deceased was found to be a 21-year-old resident of Pahalagoda, Tangalle, by the name of Ravindu Nimsara Gardiwasam.

Remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Hambantota Hospital’s morgue following the magistrate’s inquest.

The remains are pending post-mortem examinations which will be performed at the Hambantota Hospital.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Weeraketiya Police, in order to determine the identities of suspects, and make the relevant arrests.
