50 acres of land to be given to victims of Uma Oya

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the Ministerial Sub Committee appointed to look into the problems caused due to the Uma Oya project has submitted its report on the matter to the cabinet.
Ministers Champika Ranawaka, Mahinda Amaraweera and Vijith Vijayamuni Soysa made up the committee of ministers appointed to assess the situation.
Amaraweera stated report was handed over to the cabinet yesterday (18).
Attention was drawn to the water leak associated with the Uma Oya project.
Hence the report outlined measures such as distributing drinking water, compensating and sourcing out information on the affected, re-settling individuals affected by cracked buildings of residency and education, , which included sectioning off 50 acres of land from Craig Watta, by transferring ownership of that land to the government.
Meanwhile, cabinet Spokesperson regarding the Uma Oya project, Gayantha Karunathilaka spoke about the Uma Oya project at the cabinet meeting held today (19) , as well.
