New pilot programme to provide transport facilities to students

The Government has taken a decision to implement a pilot programme under the “Let’s Protect Children” national programme, to facilitate convenient and secure transport for students.

Co-cabinet Media Spokesperson and Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms, Gayantha Karunathilaka stated this today (19), upon attending a media briefing organized  for the purpose of announcing cabinet decisions.

Gayantha Karunathilaka stated that 04 buses would be purchased for the benefit of said pilot programme, for which, Rs. 12.86 million would be allocated by the Government.

The pilot programme will be reportedly be launched in order to provide secure transport facilities to students of four rural education zones in the North-central Province.

The proposal of the pilot programme had been submitted by President Maithripala Sirisena.
