Goodwill visit to be paid by JS Izuma and Sazanami

Two vessels under the command of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force are expected to arrive at the Colombo Harbour today (20), for a three-day goodwill visit.
The Sri Lanka Navy reported that the two vessels arriving would be the helicopter destroyer, JS Izumo, and the Takanami class destroyer, JS Sazanami.
The Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense, Hiroyuki Miyazawa will also be arriving on the island aboard the ships.
The visit aims to strengthen the existing bilateral ties between the two nations.
The staff aboard the two ships will be participating in programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy, during their stay in Sri Lanka.
Officials of the naval forces of both countries will also be participating in a joint humanitarian aid and disaster response drill.
