The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has confirmed the launch of the island-wide 24-hour token strike.

Accordingly, the GMOA announced that the strike would be conducted from 8.00 am onwards tomorrow (25).

Media Spokesperson of the GMOA, Dr. Samantha Ananda stated that the token strike would be launched based on a number of reasons, including the attempted arrest of Rayan Jayalath, Convener of the Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee.

Meanwhile, the Anti-SAITM Students’ Movement engaged in an island-wide awareness campaign in the morning today (24), where flyers were handed out in the main cities across the island in order to educate the public on the prevalent issue.
