Exploding elephant trap leaves scholarship hopeful injured

An explosion of a mine meant to fend off wild elephants has injured a young boy who was to face the scholarship examination in Hambantota.

It has been reported that Ruchira Keshan, a student of Yawwana Kumarapura Kanishta Vidyala in Wellawaya was the student who sustained injuries.  
 
Ruchira Keshan was injured yesterday (19), while he was trying to light an explosive item meant to ward off elephants in his home. Having sustained burns on his fingers and arm he was admitted to the Hambantota General Hospital. 

Hospital staff has confirmed that Ruchira has been transferred to the Karapitiya teaching hospital today (20) to receive further treatment.
