Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe’s Media Secretary stated that the Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana would not resign from his ministerial portfolio until a decision was made by the President.

He added that President Maithripala Sirisena was yet to arrive at a decision over the matter, and that Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe would state his stance on the matter following the President’s decision.

Upon an inquiry made by Ada Derana, the Media Secretary revealed that the Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana and the President had convened for a discussion last night (22).

Meanwhile, although the Minister was due to arrive at the Ministries of Justice and Buddha Sasana today (23) morning to meet the employees, sources reported that Minister had not arrived as at 10.00 am.

The Media Secretary accordingly stated that he would arrive at the Ministries after the President makes a decision.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera predicted that the succeeding Justice Minister would be a female.

He further stated that she would be a member of the United National Party (UNP).

He stated this upon addressing the media after a discussion at the Parliamentary premises yesterday (22).
