The Joint Opposition will never field a Common Candidate for elections, according to UPFA Parliamentarian Dilum Amunugama.
Responding to questions from journalists at a press briefing on Wednesday (24), he stated that the Joint Opposition is not appearing on behalf of Wijeyadasa Rajapakse, who was removed from his portfolio as Justice Minister yesterday.
He stated that while the United National Party (UNP) has a right to decide regarding the appointments and removals of the party, Mr Rajapakse was sacked for not supporting acts of revenge.
MP Janaka Wakkumbura, who also spoke at the media briefing, said that Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa was removed from his ministerial portfolios due to taking a stand against the sale of the Hambantota port.
He said that the other problems in the country have been swept under the carpet in the face of this problematic situation.
