An aggressive protest by the Ministers of the Northern Provincial Council during today’s (24) Provincial Council meeting, saw proceedings delayed by over 5 minutes.

A remonstration that was stirred by provincial councilor M.K.Sivalingam saw an aggressive protest by the members of the council demanding an immediate government response on several demands including the release of political prisoners and the release of lands held by the military.  Notably all members of the council unanimously voiced their displeasure over the handling of their request.

In response to the events that conspired Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council stated that the President had been informed of the demands and that he was actively working on a resolution via the Governor of the Northern Province.

Following the statements of the Chief Minister, the Council resumed proceedings.
