Exercise Cormorant Strike to commence in Mattala today

The Joint Field Training Exercise (FTX), Exercise Cormorant Strike VII – 2017 organized by the Sri Lanka Army for the 8th year will be conducted within the Mattala Airport premises at 4.30pm today (19). 

The Field Exercise that will host a military contingent of over 2000 soldiers will mainly focus on hostage extraction. Accordingly 2108 soldiers from the SL Army, 370 officers from the SL Navy and 197 officers from the SL Air Force will take part in Exercise Cormorant Strike 2017. 

It has also been reported that more than 69 military officers from Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Russia,the United States, Brazil, Sudan, Iraq, Israel, Oman, Turkey, Iran and Kenya will also participate in the exercise.
