Indian Government pledges funds for Lankan estate community

The Indian government agreed to provide funds according to the request made by Minister of Hill Country, New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development Palany Thigambaram who appealed for the provision of funds for the development of the estate community of Sri Lanka. 

Representatives of the Indian government agreed to provided Rs.199 million to the Hatton Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) that is under the purview of the Ministry of Hill Country and New Villages signing an agreement at the Indian High Commission yesterday (20). 

The agreement was signed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Hill Country, New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development Ranjani Nadaraja Pillai and the Indian High Commissioner Taranjit Singh Sandhu. 

The funds will be channeled towards the development of vocational education and the standard of living of the estate community.
