JVP should not pose as namesake heroes – Dilum Amunugama

MP Dilum Amunugama stated that the JVP should not pose as ‘fake heroes’ before the public and maintain a stable political stance on the policy decisions taken by the government.

Speaking to the media at a press conference of the UPFA today (22), Dilum Amunugama stated that the same JVP parliamentarians who expressed their displeasure over the government’s stance over the SAITM issue, portray a differing stance pertaining to several proposals brought forward by the government.

MP Amunugama further stated that the JVP who publicly fight to topple the government conveniently boycotts any opportunity to bring the UNP elephant sigil to heel. He further mentioned that the leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake acted in unison with the Prime Minister with regard to the draft 20th amendment to the constitution.

He also stated that the JVP showed no opposition to the distorted proposal brought forward by the government to postpone elections.

The UPFA parliamentarian then went on to state that had the 6 members of the JVP who secured seats in parliament abstained, the warped Bill would not have been passed. Dilum Amunugama also mentioned that the members of the JVP should not pose as namesake heroes in the eyes of the public and maintain a constant political agenda.
