Operatives of the Sri Lanka Civil Security Department have been deployed to identify motorists not adhering to the newly introduced priority lanes in Colombo.

The Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Western Development stated that this decision was made to assist the Police force in their task to identify motorists who do not abide by the newly imposed road rules.

The priority lanes project was introduced as a remedy to the growing traffic congestion that is plaguing Colombo. The Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development introduced 4 phases of the project and are to implement the 4th phase in the Maradana-Borella region.
