Minister Amaraweera alleges political conspiracy against him

Fisheries Minister and Mahaweli Development State Minister Mahinda Amaraweera allege that a political conspiracy is being carried out against him.
The protest which was held against the agreement to handover operations of the Hambantota port and Mattala airport to two foreign companies was allegedly held against him,the Minister allege.
“They spread rumors saying that I influenced their arrest. And upon their release on bail, those politicians and their lawyers that the General Secretary of UPFA sent a letter requesting the bail to be cancelled.” the Minister said.
“This is the letter, and I emphasize that I have not written a single letter in a few weeks now. It was the Chief Protocol Officer of the parliament who had signed this letter.” said the Minister while producing the letter at the media briefing.
The parliamentarians very well know who the Chief Protocol Officer is. And this document only mentions that they are going abroad for personal reasons.” the Minister added.
Speaking further, Miniser Amaraweera said that he would discuss with the Chief Justice about the lawyers involved and he would take legal actions against the parties involved.
A protest was organized by members of the Joint Opposition on October 06 including MP Namal Rajapaksa, against the agreement to handover operations of the Hambantota port and Mattala airport to two foreign companies.
The Police apprehended 28 protesters for unruly behavior and damage of public property during the protest.
Meanwhile,UPFA Parliamentarians Namal Rajapaksa, DV Chanaka, Prasanna Ranaweera, Provincial Council member Upali Kodikara and Major (Rtd.) Ajith Prasanna were arrested by Hambantota Police on October 10 over the protest held in Hambantota.
