Missing girls from Kolonnawa: 19-year-old and another arrested

The 19-year-old female from Kolonnawa, who was reported missing with two other girls and later surrendered to police, has been arrested by police along with another suspect, the police spokesman said.

Meanwhile the other two girls, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, have been sent for medical examinations, he said. 

Police commenced investigations into the disappearance of a young mother and two teenage girls who are residents of Kolonnawa, on October 17.

The three missing persons were  identified as 19-year old Malithi Wathsala, who is the mother of an infant, 15-year old Yasanthi Madushani, the sister-in-law of Malithi, and a 14-year-old girl from their neighborhood named Charithri Chandrasekaram also known as Sweta.  

The three females had left their apartment in Salamulla on Saturday (14), to visit Malithi’s father at his residence in Orugodawatte while afterwards they had left that residence to buy clothes from a nearby boutique and had not returned.
 
The families of the missing individuals lodged formal missing person reports with Wellampitiya Police Station on October 16.  

However, it was reported this morning that the 19-year-old female and 15-year-old girl had surrendered to police.

Around noon today the 14-year-old girl had also surrendered to Gampaha Police with a female she had stayed with.
