Woman and son found murdered at home in Eravur

A 26-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son have been found murdered with their throats slit in the Eravur area in Batticaloa. 

Police suspect that the murders had been carried out last night (17) in their sleep. 

The two bodies were discovered inside the residence of the victims in Thannamunai, following information received at 8.00am today by the police emergency hotline. 

The deceased have been identified as Kiriwan Maduwanthi, 26, and her 12-year-old son, Pirambaram Madushan. 

The murdered woman’s husband is employed abroad, according to reports. 

Eravur Police is conducting further investigations.
