A special discussion between PM’s Secretary and Railway trade unions

A special discussion will be held between Railway trade unions and government authorities this afternoon (08) with regard to salary anomalies and other demands.

The discussion which is headed by the Prime Minister’s Secretary will be held at the PM’s Office.

Transport and Civil Aviation Deputy Minister Ashok Abeysinghe is also scheduled to participate in the discussion.

Railway trade unions including railway drivers, station masters, and guards yesterday (07)decided to engage in a 48-hour strike action with effect from midnight today.

Speaking to Ada Derana, Station Masters’ Union President Janaka Fernando said the strike will be staged based on a number of demands including salary anomalies.
