Over 153 kg of Kerala cannabis found floating in sea

Sri Lanka Naval personnel have discovered around 153.1 kg of Kerala cannabis floating in the seas north of Point Pedro.
The discovery was made by personnel onboard the Fast Attack Craft P 437 and CG 401 belonging to the Northern Naval Command and Sri Lanka Coast Guard respectively yesterday (19).
The consignment of cannabis had been packed into 60 parcels and it is suspected that the consignment had been dumped at sea with the intention of smuggling it into the country later.
The stock of cannabis was handed over to Kankesanthurai Police for onward legal action, SLN media unit said.
The Northern Naval Command has apprehended a total weight of 1695.33 Kg of Kerala Cannabis smuggled to the area up to date since January 2015.
