Walapane PS secretary and environmental officer arrested over bribe

The secretary and environmental officer of the Walapane Pradeshiya Sabha have been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery of Corruption.
They were arrested today while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a businessman for the quarrying of a rock.
The arrested suspects are to be produced at the Nuwara-Eliya Magistrate’s Court.
