Police and Elections chiefs meet over LG polls

Sri Lanka Police and Elections Commission today held their first discussion with regard to the upcoming election for Local Government bodies. 

Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya, Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara, the Senior DIG in charge of elections activities C.D. Wickramaratne and other high ranking police officers participated in the meeting which was held at the Elections Secretariat in Colombo.

Speaking to reporters after today’s talks, Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that security arraignments and legal provisions for the handing over of nominations for the election will be announced next week.
