The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended six suspects along with a local multi-day fishing trawler believed to be involved in smuggling of narcotic substances, during a special operation on the high seas south of Sri Lanka. The narcotic-laden trawler and the suspects were brought to the Tangalle Fisheries Harbour on Thursday evening (Nov 20).  A special investigation by the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) confirmed the Navy’s seizure included over 261kg of methamphetamine (ice) and more than 115kg of heroin, in 18 sacks. A revolver, a pistol, two magazines and a satellite phone were also recovered during the raid.
