Five involved in organised crime arrested with firearms in Ambepussa

Five suspects allegedly involved in organized crimes have been arrested along with their weapons and drugs at Ambepussa in Warakapola, the Police Spokesman said. 

The suspects were arrested by Warakapola Police last night while they were en route to commit another crime, he said. 

Two revolvers, 11 bullets, 2 sharp knives and 42g 790mg of heroin were found in the possession of the suspect while the van they were traveling in has also been taken into custody. The suspects include army deserters. 

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the arrested suspects will be produced before the Thulhiriya Magistrate seeking detention orders to detain the suspects for 7 days for further investigations. 

The suspects are also believed to be involved in the abduction and murder of a person.
