Drugs courier uses bus to move heroin from Colombo to Jaffna

An individual who had been engaged in the trafficking of heroin from Colombo to Jaffna by bus for a long period of time has been arrested by police at Galewala, the Police Spokesman said.
He stated that the youth was arrested while transporting 25.253 grams of heroin concealed within a parcel of clothing in a passenger bus traveling from Colombo to Jaffna.
The suspect is a 26-year-old drug addict living in Sebatian Mawatha, Keselwatta, Colombo.
Police said that the suspect had misplaced his mobile phone inside the bus and had proceeded to behave unruly manner as a result of this while also repeatedly quarrelling with the conductor of the bus.
Due to this, the driver had stopped the bus at the Galewela Town and notified the police. The suspect had then gotten off the bus and attempted to flee, however he was apprehended by the police.
During interrogation, the youth had revealed that a certain organized group had used him to deliver drugs from Colombo while pretending to transport various goods.
He claims that they allow him to use drugs in Colombo, hand him some cash and instruct him to handover the order of drugs to another individual at the Jaffna Town on a daily basis.
Once he reaches Jaffna, he is given more drugs to use and put in a bus heading to Colombo. They have been carrying out this operation for a long period of time, police had uncovered.
Galewela Police said that the suspect will be handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) for further investigations after obtaining an order from the Dambulla Court tomorrow (6).
